Jonas Vingegaard: “Finally I get right in Paris-Nice”

“Today was almost a perfect day. We had a lot of fun with full gas racing all day. And finally I’m able to win Paris-Nice. It’s been a tough one for me, but I’m extremely happy to sit here with the yellow jersey today. Would have loved to also win the stage but Lenny [Martinez] was really strong and he deserves it.

Sun King Vingegaard rules the Riviera

A year after crashing out of Paris-Nice 2025, Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) claimed emphatic revenge in the 84th edition of the Race to the Sun, concluded on Sunday at the Allianz Riviera stadium. The Danish star had to settle for second place on the day, behind Bahrain Victorious’ Lenny Martinez - the only rider able to follow him on the final climb of the race...

Jonas Vingegaard: "It’s very important to race"

"I think it’s very important to race. This is one of the biggest races in the world, but it was quite slippery in the end. I backed off at the right moment and made sure I wasn’t caught in a crash [with 2km to go]. I’m okay and I hope it’s the same for everybody.

Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully we have a nicer weather. I just hope that I can...

Jonas Vingegaard: "It was quite hard all day"

“It’s nice obviously to retain the jersey and move closer to the overall victory. I enjoy every day in yellow. There’s two stages more, with a bit of a question mark on Saturday. We trust the organisers to ensure riders’ safety.

Today ended up being not an easy day, quite hard all day, but we made it to the finish. We wanted to catch the breakaway...

Jonas Vingegaard: "It’s nice to take revenge on such a beautiful day"

“Personally, I really wanted to win, and so did the team. They did an amazing job, making sure it was a good group in the front and keeping the gap tight. Everyone sacrificed themselves for me and I’m happy I could repay their efforts. My teammates deserve champagne tonight.

We had to adapt the plan a few times. The initial plan was to attack where I did....

Vingegaard stamps his authority

What a contrast from 2025 to 2026 for Jonas Vingegaard (Visma–Lease a Bike)! Last year, the Danish star took the yellow and white jersey on day 4 before crashing on the Côte de Trèves the next day and eventually abandoning the Race to the Sun. This time, on the day after his victory in Uchon, he safely went over the same climb before putting the hammer down...

Vingegaard: "I’m extremely happy, and extremely proud"

“I wouldn’t say we expected such a crazy day! We expected it to be crazy, but definitely not like it ended up. We also had a plan to go on the second last climb, but it was full gas racing from the start. It was hectic, extremely hard all day, there was not even time to take clothes off… Taking the stage and being in yellow, I couldn’t hope for more....
