- Ecologic has become official supplier for the next three years of nine professional and amateur cycling events organized by A.S.O. to promote bicycle reuse.
- This year, the partnership will fund the refurbishment of more than 150 bicycles donated locally as a legacy of the events to promote cycling among young people.
- The first 15 bikes were donated to the town of Achères on the occasion of the Grand Départ of Paris-Nice 2026 in the Yvelines.
- During these events, Ecologic will raise public awareness of the second life of sports equipment and promote the repair bonus for bikes among competitors and spectators.
Ecologic, a state-approved eco-organization responsible for managing the national prevention and recycling sector for used or end-of-life sports and leisure items (ASL), has committed to becoming an official partner of nine professional and amateur cycling events over the next three years to promote the reuse of bicycles: Paris-Nice, Paris-Roubaix Hauts-de-France, Paris-Roubaix Femmes Hauts-de-France, Tro Bro Léon, Tour Auvergne Rhône Alpes, L’Étape du Tour, L’Étape du Tour Femmes avec Zwift, Roc d’Azur CIC, and Paris-Tours.
This partnership will in particular finance the refurbishment of more than 150 bicycles donated locally as a legacy of the events, to promote cycling skills among young people as part of the “Savoir Rouler à Vélo” program. As such, Ecologic will coordinate the entire process to ensure the reuse of the collected bicycles. These bicycles will be refurbished by local Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) actors before being redistributed to host communities for use by schools, recreation centers, and sports associations.
The first 15 bikes, refurbished by the Solicycle workshop, were donated yesterday in Achères in the presence of Quentin Bellet (Head of Public Affairs and Partnerships at Ecologic), Valentin Detail (Sustainable Sports and Awareness Officer at Ecologic), Yannick Talabardon (Director of Paris-Nice), Marc Honoré (Mayor of Achères), Valentin Houdebine (President of the CLOCA cycling section), and Dominique Fuzet (President of CLOCA). This handover marks the symbolic start of a collaboration that will be rolled out locally in the areas affected by the nine events over the next three years.
The eight bicycles donated to the CLOCA cycling section will make it easier at the start of the season (September 2026) to lend bicycles to future members who are interested in the activity but do not have the financial means to buy a bicycle immediately. These bicycles will encourage participation, allowing young beneficiaries to confirm or rule out their interest before committing to a personal purchase.
The seven other bikes given to the sports department of the municipality of Achères will bolster their fleet for activities offered in schools for cycles 2 and 3, ranging from first to fifth grade, or during extracurricular time during introductory sports sessions offered to young people in Achères by municipal sports instructors.
In parallel with this delivery of reconditioned bikes to the regions, Ecologic will be running a stand dedicated to eco-responsible actions and reuse during these events. This initiative aims to raise visitors' awareness of best practices for maintaining their sports equipment, extending its lifespan and thus contributing to an increasingly circular economy. Particular attention will be paid to existing subsidies, with an emphasis on the repair bonus, which allows users to benefit from a reduction on their bill. The aim is to inform the public about these schemes and facilitate access to them.
