"I was really looking forward to testing myself with Ineos Grenadiers. I knew it could work to our advantage. And I'm really happy to show off our work. We have a very good dynamic. Everything went pretty well during this time trial. We won, we'll look at exactly how it went later. We can be very proud of ourselves, of the work we've done. It's a huge victory for the team.

I was a little more stressed than usual, more than before an individual time trial, but having riders as strong as Joshua [Tarling] or as experienced as Kwiato is what I came here for. We were very supportive of each other. And I gave it my all at the end to gain every second.

I would have liked to take the Maillot Jaune. There was the bonus yesterday... You can find those two seconds anywhere on a course like this. But we can be happy and there's still a very tough second part of the race ahead with the weather and the course. I like difficult conditions, so we'll see what happens tomorrow."
