Luke Lamperti: “We wanted a bit more, but it’s nice to keep the jersey”

“Today was super special. I enjoyed it form km 0. It’s not often you get to wear a jersey like this. For me, it’s the first time. I can say I really really enjoyed it.

[Vito Braet] won the intermediate sprint and so we were tied in the overall standings. I knew that before the finale, but we also just wanted to ride for the stage. I told the guys: ‘We just ride normal, we don’t ride to try to beat him, we see what we can do.’

Both finals [stage 1 and 2] have been quite tricky. Today I was a bit boxed in. We had [Kasper] Asgreen there and he got me in position but in the end we didn’t get to fully open up. We wanted a bit more from the sprint, but it’s also nice to keep the jersey for tomorrow. It will be super nice to go last team and we’ll enjoy it again, for sure.”
