In the heart of the Luberon Regional Natural Park, Apt enjoys an exceptional natural heritage. The central town of an area made up of 25 municipalities, it is surrounded by hilltop villages, some of which — such as Roussillon, Ménerbes, and Gordes — are listed among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (“The Most Beautiful Villages of France”). Founded by the Romans, the town boasts a 2,000-year-old history whose traces it has carefully preserved. Between the Provençal sun and sky, both rural, agricultural, and urban, with easy access to both the Mediterranean and the mountains, Apt is a privileged place to live and a destination of choice for tourists and visitors. Outdoor activities, hiking, cycling, sports, and leisure: with its stadiums, multisport fields, gymnasiums, swimming pools, and green spaces, Apt offers a particularly rich range of facilities. About 25 m long, the Calavon Greenway, which runs through the town, is a cycle path laid out on a frmer railway line.
On a site of nearly 10 hectares, the Riaille lake area provides a vast space for discovery and relaxation. Walking, fishing, fitness trails, pedal boats, windsurfing, paddleboarding, and canoe-kayaking — the choice is wide, and the site offers free facilities: playgrounds, picnic areas, skate parks, MTB and BMX tracks, areas reserved for board sports, and of course swimming. Around this lake, various sporting (Nordic walking, Zumba, Pilates, boxing…) and relaxation activities (yoga, meditation) are also offered.
