Tadej Pogacar: “We’ll do everything to keep the jersey”

Today was really hard. It was really warm it even felt like the summer. We were all dead at the finish.

David Gaudu seems to improve every year little by little and if he goes on like this he will certainly finish by winning a great race this season. I was not a surprise in the last 3 km it was just us three. I was focusing on not giving up when Jonas accelerated. Today was hot I had to push really hard.

Maybe I’m just a little percentage better than Jonas today but he didn’t give up, he always came back and it was quite impressive. He’s growing as a rider and I think he’ll be in a better shape in July. Tomorrow’s finish is very unpredictable.

Tomorrow Gaudu is one of the dangers. My goal is not to let him go. Tomorrow is a stage I like very much. I know the climbs because they are my training climbs. I also like 5 or 6-km climbs better, especially at this time of the year. Also as a team we’re going to do everything we can to keep the jersey.
