Simon Yates: "I was prepared"

"I think the GC was too far away, to that much time would have been a really big ask, so I’m very happy with the stage win. The overall victory is always in the back of your mind when you open gaps, but I knew I’d lose time on the downhill. I’m not a big guy, it was a difficult task against the two guys behind. The conditions were difficult but I’ve had experience here in the rain, so I was prepared. Of course, I’m happy to be on the podium. I have two second places here. Maybe one day I’ll come back to win, but I’m happy with my results."
