Holmes: "The day after the time-trial may be the most important"

Matthew Holmes (Lotto Soudal): "There were two riders that we couldn’t let go without us. So Thomas [De Gendt] saved me going in the breakaway, he was able to beat Gougeard in the sprints so that was perfect. The legs are not bad so we’ll see after the time-trial. We’ll focus on the breakaways, chasing a stage, and the polka dot jersey can come along. Obviously, I still have sore legs from yesterday and the day before. I didn’t want to go in the break today, take it easy tomorrow and then we’ll see what we can do in the mountains. The day after the time-trial may be the most important for the jersey."
