The Saône-et-Loire Department is proud to host the finish of a Paris-Nice stage at the signal d’Uchon, an iconic site of the Autunois-Morvan area. This major sporting event highlights a territory full of character, where the demands of high-level sport meet the strength of the landscapes and the authenticity of preserved heritage. Located in the heart of the Morvan Massif, the signal d’Uchon offers a remarkable natural setting, shaped by forests, granite rocks, and steep reliefs that make this area of Saône-et-Loire unique. Nicknamed “la perle du Morvan,” (the Pearl of the Morvan), the small village of Uchon is home to significant religious heritage, including Saint-Roch Church, the Oratory of Belle-Croix, and an Orthodox monastic centre. Overlooking the valley, it captivates visitors with its peaceful atmosphere and exceptional panoramas, ideal for contemplation as well as sporting activities. These landscapes inspired Louis Charlot, “the painter of the Morvan,” whose works are displayed in some of the world’s most prestigious museums. A recognized cycling destination, the commune previously hosted a major international event when the Tour de France passed through in 2021. Slovenian rider Matej Mohoric broke away on the ascent of the signal d’Uchon to claim a solo stage victory in Le Creusot.
