Pouilly-sur-Loire is a charming small town nestled in the Loire Valley, halfway between the source of this wild river and its estuary, at the heart of the Val de Loire Nature Reserve and an age-old vineyard. Overlooking the river, this vineyard benefits from a microclimate and a terroir ideal for the full expression of sauvignon, of which pouilly-fumé is an emblematic appellation. Its remarkable typicity has earned it international renown. It is a dry white wine that passionate winegrowers are delighted to offer for tasting in their cellars. A historic tower, the Pouilly-Fumé Tower, stands proudly in the heart of Pouilly-sur-Loire. This wine tourism centre, featuring interactive scenography, offers visitors a unique sensory experience and an immersion in the work of the winegrowers. The nature reserve, created in 1997, extends on both sides of Pouilly-sur-Loire and boasts a natural heritage of exceptional diversity. This preserved environment is shaped by the river, called in this part of its course the “Loire des Îles” (Loire of the Islands) in reference to its braided riverbed and the variety of its landscapes. To uncover the secrets of the royal river, the Pavillon du Milieu de Loire welcomes visitors and invites them to discover exhibitions and trails along the Loire or winding through the vineyards. Crafts, shops, businesses, schools, and community life embody a true spirit of closeness and help promote the area.
