It is with immense pride that Épône hosts the start of the second stage of Paris-Nice. A town of natural and historical heritage, Épône preserves a remarkable legacy, notably through its dolmens. Over the centuries, the municipality has established itself as a place of reflection and major decision-making.
Its Saint-Béat Church, built in the 11th century, illustrates the richness of its medieval heritage through its Romanesque architecture. The Temple of David, nestled in the park of the château and overlooking the Seine Valley, holds a unique place in national history. It was here in 1946 that Michel Debré and four ministers laid the foundations of the Constitution of the Fifth Republic, making Épône a cradle of the modern Republic. The site was also the setting for the drafting of the Franco-American friendship treaty, a symbol of dialogue and shared values.
Between the Seine, its preserved natural areas such as the Biotope, and its village spirit, Épône is today a human-scale town looking to the future. Committed to sport and health for all, the municipality is home to the first trial-labelled MTB stadium in Île-de-France, designed as part of a circular economy approach.
This stage of the legendary Paris-Nice race is an opportunity to offer many cycling-related activities open to all generations. In Épône, cycling brings people together, creates connections, and makes sense by promoting sharing and friendliness.
