Pedersen: "My first World Tour win in a long time"

March 8 th 2022 - 16:36

Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo): "I knew the finish, we did it one lap earlier, and it was perfect for me. Things went different than yesterday, when we were unlucky in the finale. Today the team did a fantastic job, it was a perfect lead out from Alex [Kirsch] and Jasper [Stuyven]. When I felt it was time to go, I just put my head down and sprinted to the line. Luckily it was enough to hold off the guys behind. It’s my first World Tour win in a long time [since Gent-Wevelgem 2020]. The season started well and I think I’m on the right path for the Classics. I was in a better form when I became a World Champion [2019], but it may be the best form I ever had at this time of the year."
